Suny Oswego was established in 1861, and for more than 150 years, it has been inspired by those people who want to expand traditional higher-education boundaries. Oswego has an enduring commitment to delivering a transformative experience to our varied body of students, allowing them to live ethical and purposeful lives and create a brighter future for tomorrow.
Edward Austin Sheldon established this institution more than 150 years ago. Through the university, he established a powerful public asset to meet the requirements of rising populations. He was one of the earliest adopters of objective learning a prototype for modern inquiry-based learning
The university values the diversity found in every member of their campus community, and they aim to create a community where diversity is enhanced and improved. At Suny Oswego, no person is insignificant, and their objective is to provide opportunities for all voices, viewpoints, and opinions to be heard and supported.
Identifying the advantage of diversity, their mission is to provide an environment which respects, accepts and encourages cultural competence, civil discourse and active engagement in creating an all-inclusive and vibrant community of scholars who act as an agent of change in the world.
