The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a public research university in Birmingham. It was established in 1969. More than 22,000 students from 100 countries were enrolled in the fall of 2018. UAB’s Health System is considered one of the largest academic medical centers in the United States. It is affiliated with the UAB. It offers residency programs, including internal medicine, neurology, physical medicine, surgery, radiology, and anesthesiology.

Student media

UAB has a twice-yearly student magazine named Aura Literary Arts Review. It features fiction, creative non-fiction, photography, poetry, and reviews. The magazine has been awarded the highest honor in student media, the Peacemaker from ACP, in the year 2006.

Library

UAB has two major libraries named Mervyn H. Sterne Library and Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences. Mervyn H. Sterne Library has more than 1.8 million print volumes, whereas Lister Hill Library has more than 380,000.
