California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is a public university centrally located in the South Bay and the heart of Los Angeles. CSUDH has a total enrolment of more than 15,000 students comprising nearly 12,000 undergraduates and almost 3,000 post-graduates. The university is considered one of the most economically and ethnically diverse universities in the Western United States. It has enrolled the most significant number of African American students than any of the CSU.

CSUDH is home to the Dignity Health Sports Park. It is a 28,000 seat multiple-sports and entertainment complex. The sports-complex also houses the LA Galaxy soccer team and holds Calvary Chapel's Easter Service every year.
California State University, Dominguez Hills, opened a new library in its South Wing. It was funded by the Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2006. The university was granted $50 million for the project. It is a 140,000-square-foot (13,000 m2) library that shelves half a million books. The library consists of comfortable study areas, grand reading rooms, technologically advanced archival storage, and research areas, 1,600 reader stations, 250 computer workstations, 2 dedicated computer labs, an events center, a multi-cultural art gallery, and a learning center. The five-story library is a glass and metal building.
CSUDH has over 110,000 alumni, and most of them continue to live within 27 miles of the campus. The alumni share their knowledge and experience with the community of existing students. The university encourages alumni to get involved in their alumni association.
Diverse: Issues in Higher Education has ranked CSUDH 35th in the number of bachelor's degrees awarded to Latinos, 86th for African-Americans and 100th for Asian-Americans. The university has also been ranked 47th nationally in the total number of bachelor's degree and 88th in the number of master's degrees offered to the minority students.
Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has accredited CSUDH. Several programs of CSUDH have been certified by various other agencies in their specialized fields such as ABET, ACOTE, ACS, BBS, CAAHEP, CCNE, CCTC, CSWE, NAACLS, NASM, NASPAA, NAST, NCATE, and NCOPE.
