Founded in 1946, the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH) is the oldest massage therapy school in Canada. Canadian College of Massage ad Hydrotherapy has 5 great campus locations across the entire nation. The students participate in over 330 hours of supervised training through regular shifts at the on-site Student Intern Clinic. CCMH delivers the highest quality of massage therapy education around the globe. Along with the highest quality of education for its students CCMH meets the accreditation requirements for registered massage therapy training institutions. The college provides training in various courses such as anatomy, neurology, kinesiology and remedial exercise. Admission Requirement

Students applying for admission to CCMH whose first language is not English must demonstrate the following language competencies;

  • The ability to speak and communicate in English
  • The ability to listen and understand English
  • The ability to read and understand in English
  • The ability to demonstrate basic English writing skills

Students whose first language is not English can demonstrate that they meet language competency requirements as per the list below;

  • Successfully undertake either the IELTS, TOEFL iBT,  CanTEST or MELA Test,
  • Complete formal education in an approved English language school which offers a program of study equivalent to IELTS or TOEFL,
  • 3 years of full time study at a secondary or college level in a country where English is an official language or language of common usage. Completion of a single course is not acceptable.

Minimum Requirements for English Language Testing for entry into CCMH:

Before applying to the Massage Therapy Diploma Program, you must take the IELTS, TOEFL, CanTEST or MELA test.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Overall band score of 6.0 in each element in the same sitting and no more than two years before the start of the program.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • Internet-based test: Overall score of 18 in writing, speaking and readying, and 20 in listening. Paper-based test: A minimum score of 500.
  • Canadian Test of English for Scholars & Trainees (CanTEST)
  • Must achieve scores of 3.0 in writing, 4.0 in speaking and 3.5 in listening and reading.
  • Michener  English Language Assessment (MELA)
  • Must receive a score of 6.5 in writing and 7.5 in speaking, listening and reading.

Upon graduating from the Massage Therapy Diploma Program, if you write the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario (CMTO) certification exams to become an RMT, you must meet the following requirements:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Overall band score of 6.5 in speaking and reading, 7.5 in listening and 6.0 in writing for an overall band score of 6.625 on the academic modules.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)
  • Overall band score of 19 in reading, 20 in speaking and writing and 24 in listening for an overall band score of 20.75.
  • Canadian Test of English for Scholars & Trainees (CanTEST)
  • Overall band score of 3.5 in writing, 4.0 in listening and reading and 4.5 in speaking for an overall band score of 4.0.
  • Michener English Language Assessment (MELA)
  • Overall band score of 7 in writing and 8 in speaking, listening and reading for an overall band score of 7.75.
  • The College cannot proceed with an application from any student whose first language is not the language of instruction until the prospective student has demonstrated that he/she has met language competency requirements.

Procedure

  • Proof of English language proficiency must be provided prior to an offer of admission into the program.
  • Students must submit their proof of English Language Proficiency.
