Program Overview

International Relations is a critical discipline for understanding our world and achieving a sustainable future. Our programme explores the mechanisms, influences and tensions surrounding global politics, governance, development, justice and warfare.

You’ll also analyse enduring global issues such as human rights abuses, trade, migration, poverty, humanitarian intervention and organised crime. You’ll gain rigorous training in the discipline of International Relations including critical thinking and research skills, coupled with a practical and applied focus and plenty of opportunities for debate and discussion.

You’ll take part in simulations of international political crises designed to deepen your understanding of the challenges of diplomatic work as well as developing your communication, problem-solving and teamwork capabilities. You’ll progress from study visits to key UK political institutions to an optional overseas trip where you could explore inequality and the legacy of apartheid in South Africa, global and organised crime in Sicily, or international governance at the UN in Geneva. There is also the opportunity to spend a semester in Year 2 at partner Universities in Spain and the USA.

Your programme will be coursework-led, with varied assessment types helping you develop skills you’ll need in the workplace. You’ll learn mainly in seminars and lectures with ample opportunity for discussion and debate. You’ll also be allocated a dedicated tutor to support you on a one-to-one basis to pursue your academic and career goals.

    Global Scholarship
    We are pleased to offer a global scholarship to international students studying on-campus starting in the academic year 2024/25.     Merit Scholarships
    This merit scholarship is a tuition fee waiver designed to reward academic excellence or, a strong creative portfolio, or relevant work experience (where required). For undergraduate students, the scholarship holds a value of £7,500, distributed over the three years of study (£2,500 each year) as a tuition fee waiver. Graduate students will receive a £5,000 scholarship.
