Apart from a world-class education system, Dubai offers a way of living that's affordable and provides quality of life. Therefore, if students want to spend their studying years at a place that fosters learning and safety, Dubai has an ecosystem that gives them that.
Let's explore what students can expect while they are staying at Dubai in terms of accommodation, work, expenses and more.
STUDENT ACCOMMODATIONS- Some universities in Dubai offer cost-effective living options, while some others don't or have limited accommodation. But what they do is suggest companies that could assist with accommodation related enquiries. The only rule is that student accommodation be kept as that and they shouldn't get their family to live with them. Students can find studios or 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments, the prices for which vary according to the type of the accommodation and the place they are located at. Although university accommodations do come with the provision of buses, if students prefer driving, they would need to have a local or international driving license or get it converted if need be.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES Most universities in Dubai themselves offer regular recreational facilities that include tennis courts, gaming areas, entertainment rooms etc. Academic institutes also have student clubs with different interests that provide platforms to socialize and network better, Outside campuses too, Dubai has a vibrant life with a wide scope of entertainment activities and locations. It has beaches, parks, museums and restaurants to give the students some quality off- time. Its desert safaris and dune crashing rides are thrilling in a unique manner. Some universities arrange yacht parties, picnics and gatherings where students can refresh and loosen themselves and get a chance to mingle with others students and learn about their backgrounds and the ways they have adjusted to the new environments.
LIVING COSTS As is the case everywhere, private accommodation would certainly cost more than university accommodation. The average rent for a studio is AED 40,000-50,000 annually. For a 1-bedroom apartment, the cost may be around AED 55,000 for a year and AED 1,00,000 for a 2 bedroom apartment. The nearer the living place is to a metro station, the higher the rates. The cost of food also doesn't sum up to be very high given the deal of the day offers by various supermarkets that apply to fruits, vegetables and meat saving the students numerous bucks which can also be saved if the students cook at home.
STUDENT DISCOUNTS- The most advantageous thing about being a student in Dubai is student discounts for metros, cafes and restaurants that also offer special prices for students. Gyms and retail shops also have similar discounts for individuals who produce a student IDs.
FOOD The place is a confluence of around 180 nationalities and the food habits just reflect that. Restaurants are distinct from each other with representations from around the world. The newest food craze is the open kitchen fares and multi-cuisine eateries that specialize in foods as diverse as Italian, Japanese and Lebanese. Another popular cuisine called the tapas-style meals that is a combination of small dishes and is quite wholesome and fulfilling. Beside, eateries run by Indians, Pakistanis and Filipinos serve food (rice, curry etc.) thats quite close to home-cooked food.
JOBs International students have both the option of on-campus or off-campus. The work during study in Dubai program lets students explore working opportunities on campus throughout the year. A fast-growing economy as it is and having attained the position of a commercial epicenter of the country has drawn major corporations to the place, which bodes well for the students in finding work after they complete their degree.
To live and study in
Dubai is not just a matter of changing place or geography, but it is the way of
life that gets uplifted that caters for luxury and wellness.
