Named in the honor of General Georges P. Vanier, who was Canada’s second native-born Governor General, Vanier College unlocked its doors on September 8, 1970, welcoming around 1,400 students in its first legion. The Vanier College proudly bears an adaption of the Vanier family Coat of Arms. Today, the student population numbers around 6,700 full-time Diploma students with an added number of 2,000 students attending the Continuing Education Department.

Campus location: The college campus is situated in an oasis of a lush green landscape in the Borough of Saint-Laurent, of the City of Montreal.

Career-oriented programs: Vanier College has been delivering full-time pre-university programs and technically career-oriented programs leading to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS), Attestation of College Studies (ACS), while the Continuing Education Department offers credit DCS courses and programs, as well as non-credit courses and programs.

Vanier's academic Life: The academic life of the College provides a multitude of student services, resource centers, and social and cultural activities to its students. The diverse student body is the hallmark of Vanier College forming the campus fraternity from all cultural backgrounds and from every continent that represents unity in diversity.

Vanier College Athletics: The Vanier College Cheetahs have produced a number of professional athletes and won both National and Provincial Championships. To be precise, the Men’s AAA Basketball team has just seized their second National Championship, and the Men’s AAA Football team has earned their ninth Bol d’Or Provincial Championship.
