In Ireland, the international students are entitled to work up to 20 hours part-time per week during the academic term. They can work full-time during the vacation periods. The minimum wage in Ireland is 6.35 per hour.
Students from the EEA
The nationals from the European Economic Area (EEA) are free to take up employment in Ireland, while they are studying.
Students from outside the EEA
Only those students are entitled to take up a casual employment who are attending a full time course of at least one year's duration which leads to a qualification recognized by the Minister for Education and Science. They can take up to 20 hours part time work per week or full time work during normal college vacation periods. The course which a student intends to study has to be listed on the internationalization register. If someone is attending a foundation / preparatory course prior to enrolment on a full time course, he/she is not entitled to work till the commencement of the full time course. The concession to take up employment ends after the expiry of permission to remain as a student. Taking up a casual employment does entitle one for further permission to remain.
