British Chevening Scholarships- Foreign and Commonwealth Office
These are the annual scholarships. Candidates already in a career get the preference. British Embassies/High Commissions handle the admission overseas. But the student should be in the home country when applying for the scholarship.
British Council Fellowship Program - British Council
They include the grants for postgraduate study or research. The local British Council Director awards these scholarships.
Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)
Overseas Development Administration and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Department for International Development (DfID)
Shared Scholarship Scheme (formerly ODASSS) – It involves a joint funding by the DfID and participating universities in the UK. The applicant needs to come from a developing Commonwealth country in order to be eligible. Also the chosen course should not be available in their home country. The taught courses at the postgraduate level are usually eligible for these scholarships. The applicant has to be under 35 years of age, fluent in English language, not employed by their government or by an international organization.
