Accommodation with a family
The students can opt to live as a paying guest in an Irish home, where they would have their own room with space to study. But they will need to share the house with the family. This is also known as living in 'digs'. Morning and evening meals are provided, but the students need to pay for a light midday meal on campus. This can cost somewhere around 35 per week. Heat, light etc. do not have any extra charges. Also some of the laundry will be done. Average weekly charges amount to around 120- 150.
Self-catering accommodation
A wide range of quality and price is available, if one chooses a self catering accommodation. The cheapest accommodation is a small room, consisting of a bedroom and living room, but with limited cooking facilities. A 'flat let', also known as a bedsit, would have its own mini-kitchen and shower. But there can be variations. Prices range between EUR 450 - EUR 800 per month. It can be quite expensive to set oneself in a self catering accommodation. One will need to pay for heating and electricity and other charges like waste disposal. A student will also be required to purchase essential items, for example kitchen equipment, bed linen and other essential household items.
