The university year usually runs from September to April and the typical entry points being September and January semesters. Some universities have all courses available even in the summer and are on a semester or trimester system. Each university sets its own admission standards, while individually assessing the qualifications of each applicant.
The Canadian degree programs require the international students –not having English as a first language- must have passed an English examination test. The IELTS is commonly accepted but may accept other English examination tests such as the TOEFL.

If the students want to study at a French language institution, there is no standardized French language test required to be cleared for seeking admission to a Canada degree program. French universities determine the level of a student's French language skills on a case-by-case basis. It is their discretion to administer their own written tests if language skills are in question.
