Numerous other scholarships, awarded by individual colleges and universities, are also available to the international students.


Algonquin College

Scholarships and bursaries are available through individual programs based upon student academic performance and leadership skills. Limited financial assistance may be available in emergency situations. For more information contact the Canam office.


Brock University

International fellowships of $1,500/term will be awarded to full-time international graduate students in funded programs, for a maximum of one, two or four years in accordance with the normal length of their graduate program, to assist in discounting international tuition fees.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies will automatically assess the student file for international fellowship eligibility. Application by the student is not required.


Centennial College

It offers scholarships to the students with the highest cumulative GPA who have completed two consecutive semesters without withdrawals.


Fairleigh Dickinson University

It offers scholarships ranging from US$2500 to US$10,000 per academic year.

Scholarships are usually awarded on a first-come first-served basis. They are awarded based on Senior Secondary scores. The scholarships are renewable every during the student’s entire program, provided a 3.o GPA or higher is maintained.


Fanshawe College

Elizabeth Paterson International Student of the Year Award

The International Student of the Year Award Program asks international students to offer their insights into the study-in-Canada experience. This has to be done by writing a one-page letter telling family or friends what it's like to study in Canada, what they see as the advantages of their Canadian academic career, and their achievements so far.

The International Student of the Year is selected based upon the information provided in the letter and its freshness and energy.

The International Student of the Year receives a $500 cash prize. Two “runners-up” also receive prizes of $200 and $100 respectively. The International Student of the Year and honorable mentions are recognized in CBIE publications and annual conference.

This competition is launched in December of each year and runs to mid-February.


Fraser International College

FIC (Fraser International College) offers two 50% scholarships based on academic performance per intake.

SFU Simon Fraser University) offers a scholarship of $3500 to any student who transfers from FIC with a GPA of 3.7 or higher. 8 FIC students received scholarships from SFU in the year 2008.


George Brown College

George Brown College’s Awards program recognizes excellence and assists students with the costs of their education through non-repayable scholarships, awards, and bursaries.

It awards two scholarships of $10,000 each and 8 partial scholarships of $1000 each.

Mohawak College

Many bursaries and scholarships are available to International Students. Â There are also hundreds of awards available to the international students. Some awards require a general application while others are faculty selected and an application is not necessary. The general application deadline for the fall term is August 1st and for the winter term is January 12th.

South Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT)

The international center offers two awards: Leadership and Academic achievement. The international students become eligible to apply for these awards after completing two semesters at SAIT.


Trent University

All students applying to Trent will automatically be considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships, awarded for academic excellence. These range in value from CDN$1,000 to CDN$2,500.
Trent International Full Scholarships: 3-5 scholarships valued approximately CDN$22,000 per academic year (8 months).
Trent International Tuition Scholarships: 2-4 scholarships valued approximately CDN$14,000 per academic year (8 months).
Trent International Levy Tuition Scholarship: 1 Scholarship valued approximately CDN$14,000 per academic year (8 months).
Trent International Awards: Valued approximately CDN$1,000-$3,000.


Vancouver Island University

Scholarships for the new applicants include


VIU World-Wide Entrance Scholarships

Number: 20 each fall
Amount: $1,000 to 2,000 each
Criteria: Provided annually to exceptional new long-term academic
Undergraduate student applicants. $1000 to $2,000 scholarships to the top 20 applicants entering in the Fall semester based on entering grades from submitted transcripts.


British Columbia High School International Excellence Entrance Scholarship

Number: Minimum 2 each fall
Amount: $1,000 each
Criteria: All International student applicants who have applied to attend VIU in their graduating year from a British Columbia High School with a Dogwood Certificate. Highest average in combined marks of English 12 Social Studies 11 and Math 11 (principles or applications).


International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Entrance Scholarship

Number: Varies each fall
Amount: $1,000 each
Criteria: New international student graduates with an IB diploma. Awarded as a tuition credit at Vancouver Island University in their second academic semester.


British Columbia Offshore School Entrance Scholarship

Number: Minimum 2 each fall Amount: $1,000 each Criteria: All international student graduates from BC Offshore schools are eligible. The awards will be given to the 2 students having the highest combined scores on any two Grade 12 provincially examinable courses excluding their first language.
