The University of Maine was founded in 1865. It is land and sea grant institution and the flagship campus of the University Of Maine System. The university is located in Orono along the banks of the Stillwater River. UMaine is a vibrant and dynamic university. UMaine has 16 Cooperative Extension offices and 5 research field stations across the state proffer outreach in every Maine County.
